Sports and Art Performances Celebrating the National Day held by the Government of Macao SAR - Bless and Cheer for the Asian Games

In order to celebrate the 61th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, organized by the Macao SAR Government and executed by the Sport Development Board, the “Sports and Art Joint Performances Celebrating the National Day by the Government of Macao SAR – Bless the Asian Games, Cheer all of you”, was held at the Tap Seac Multisports Pavilion on 1st October. The opening ceremony was presided by Cheong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Song Yanbin, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Macao SAR, Zhang Xiaoguang, Deputy Head of the Culture and Education Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR, Vong Iao Lek, President of Macao Sport Development Board, Jose Maria da Fonseca Tavares and Pun Weng Kun, Vice-Presidents of Macao Sport Development Board, as well as a representative of the public.

This event centered on the theme of “Promoting sports and blessing the Asian Games in Guangzhou”, mixed with elements of singing, dancing, sports and art joint performances. Singers from Mainland China, Chinese Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and foreign countries, gold medalists of the Olympic Games, local athletes and performers, were invited to this show. Coaches, including former Chinese women’s volleyball head coach Chen Zhonghe, who is currently the deputy secretary of Fujian Sport Development Board, and a few Chinese athletes including volleyball athletes, Yang Hao, Zhang Ping and Zhang Na; gymnastics athletes, Yang Wei, Xiao Qin and Huang Xu; judo athletes Tong Wen; short track speed skating athlete Wang Meng and coach Li Yan; badminton athletes, Ji Xinpeng, etc. were also invited to join in some of the performances and to spread the passion of sports.

To demonstrate the grandeur of sport to the audience, local shuttlecock players played a game of shuttlecock with the Chinese women volleyball athletes. Meanwhile, famous local and international artists including Elva Hsiao, Karen Mok, Kenji Wu, Sun Nan, Van Fan, Cyndi Wang, F.I.R., Michael Learns to Rock, Tan Jing, Lu Wei, Warren Wah-Yeun Mok, Shuai Peng, Xu Fei, Aduo, Jason Zhang and local singer Nick Ngai, entertained the audience with their wonderful performances.

The show was attended by over 2,600 Macao citizens; everyone enjoyed the wonderful and diverse performances and together celebrated the National Day in a joyous atmosphere .
