2011 Summer Activities

The annual Summer Activities were held in July and August earlier this year. The program provided two kinds of activities to children and teenagers aged 4 to 25, which were sports activities and recreational activities, respectively coordinated and organized by the Macao Sports Development Board and the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau.

As before, the Macao Sport Development Board provided tailor-made and healthy sports activities for children and teenagers this year. Course contents were further intensified and 103 items with a total of 21,204 places were available, of which 12 items were new activities added this year, including advanced courses in ball games, referee training courses in basketball, coaches training courses, dragon dance sports, dancing foundation courses. There were also activities designed specifically for people with intellectual disabilities, such as aerobics, ballroom dancing, sports experiencing activities and family hiking etc. The overall goal of the Summer Activities was to cultivate teenagers’ interests and potentials in sports as well as to enrich their summer holidays.

In addition, taking the opportunity that the finals of FIVB World Grand Prix were held in Macao this year, the Macao Sports Development Board also offered to teenagers participating in the Summer Activities program to purchase tickets to the event at a preferential price.
