The Sports Bureau Visited National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities

The 11th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the People's Republic of China was held in Zhengzhou, Henan Province from September 8 to 16. The Sports Bureau was invited to organize a sports event observation delegation to attend the Games' opening ceremony and observe some of the events from September 7 to 11. The Macao delegation was composed of members of the Sports Bureau, Sports Council and Sports and Olympic Council. The opening ceremony was held at the Olympic Sports Centre in Zhengzhou on September 8. Wang Yang, Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Politics, attended the opening ceremony. Before the ceremony, Chairman Wang Yang met all members of the organizing committee of the games, athletic representatives, delegations and observation delegation leaders from Hong Kong and Macao.

The events in the Games included fireworks, pearl balls, wooden balls, cuju, shuttleball, dragon boat, bamboo drift, swing, shooting, gyro, galactic, high-speed racing, shoe racing, national martial arts, national wrestling and national aerobics, etc. The next National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities will be held in Hainan Province in 2023.

During the observation, the Macao observation delegation went to the Henan Table Tennis Management Centre to visit the Macao table tennis athletes Cheong Chi Cheng and Cheong Chi Chon, who were engaging in fulltime training there, encouraging them to improve their skills through systematic and professionalized training methods.
