Women's Sports Carnival, Concerns about Women's Physical and Mental Health

Jointly organized by Macao Sports Bureau and the Women's General Association of Macao, “Macau Women's Sports Carnival” has been held for 14 years since 2003. “2016 Macau Women's Sports Carnival” was held on 19th and 20th March. This event aims to promote the advantages of sports to women and encourage them to cultivate the good habit of lifelong exercise. The Chairwoman and the Supervisor General of the Women's General Association of Macau Ms. Lam Un Mui concluded that the event was well accepted by citizens and that showed success on promoting women's Sport for All.

A Trilogy of the Event

The activities of the event were mainly divided into three sections, including multi-level communications of theoretical sharing, demonstration, participation, etc. Sports for All Fitness Assembly Show (held on 19th ) at Tap Seac Plaza was the first part of the event, as the Opening of Women's Sports Carnival. Trainers and student members of Sport for All Fitness and Recreation Classes demonstrated sports items such as square dance, line dance, Tai Chi, aerobics and softball, etc. Furthermore, instructors were invited to teach aerobics on site, which lightened up the atmosphere.

9 Asian Women's Associations Participated in the Carnival

The women's associations of Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Inner Mongolia, Hong Kong, Shaoguan and Macau gathered at Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre to participate in seminar on “Sports, Fitness and Health” and more than 300 Asian women participants voiced their opinions and shared their experiences.

There was the opening ceremony before the Seminar. Attended guests included the President of the Sports Bureau Mr. Pun Weng Kun, the President of Women's General Association of Macau Ms. Ho Teng Iat, the wife of Commissioner of Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Macao SAR Ms. Qiu Weiwei, the Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau Ms. Leong Lai, the Vice president of the Sports Bureau Ms. Lam Lin Kio, the Chairwoman and the Supervisor General of the Women's General Association of Macau Ms. Lam Un Mui and Ms. Ng Sao Keng, Committee Member of Administrative Committee of I.A.C.M. Ms. Isabel Celeste Jorge and Sports Committee members etc.

Sports and Recreational Competition Brings More Than Happiness

In the morning of 20th, at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion, the finale highlighted activity - Sports and Recreational Competition was held. Those Asian Women’s Associations were actively participated in groups and competed with “all-women” teams from several local associations and organizations. There were 41 committees and 52 teams with nearly 6,000 people participated in the Competition. After a series of sports games and competitions, the following is the results of the competitions:

Group A: Champion: Public Security Police Force; Runner up: Macao Jiangmen Communal Society; Second runner up: Recreation Community of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR

Group B: Champion: Macau Noi Ka Kun Association; Runner up: Marine and Water Bureau; Second runner up: Macao Jiangmen Communal Society
