FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Macau 2014 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group

Jointly organized by the Macau Sport Development Board and the Volleyball Association of Macau, China, in association with the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Macau has become one of the sport brand events in Macao. Both local citizens and visitors from neighboring areas were attracted by the event every year. China, Japan, South Korea and Serbia were gathering in the city to compete for the champion of Macao leg and the entrance ticket for the finals.

Upon arrival at Macao, the Chinese, Japanese and Serbian teams attended the promotional activity held by the FIVB organizers at the Leal Senado Square which attracted lots of citizens and tourists and activated the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix Macau. In addition, young players of the Chinese team such as Liu Xiaotong, Yang Zhou, Yang Fangxu and Wang Huimin shared their volleyball skills and playing experiences with local male and female young volleyball players. With the help of volunteers, the members of Fu Hong Society of Macau also participated in the exchange event and enjoy the fun of sports.

The event took place from 15th to 17th August at the Macao Forum. After several rounds of fierce competition, the Japanese team won the Macao leg with three complete victories, whereas the Chinese team was the runner-up and the South Korean team was the third. For individual player awards: Kim Yeon-Koung from South Korea was awarded the “Best Scorer”, “Best Server” and “Best Spiker”; Xu Yunli from China was awarded the “Best Blocker”; Haruka Miyashita from Japan was awarded the “Best Setter”. In addition, Zhu Ting from China received “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player” award.    

After three legs, the Chinese team took the second place of the preliminary contest with 17 points from totally 9 battles and succeeded in entering the finals held from 20th to 24th August in Tokyo, Japan.
