Editor’s Note

Entering its third season, the local sports community highlighted the “FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix” and sports delegation participating in the “17th Asian Games”. It’s congratulated to report that our local athletes have won three silver and four bronze medals in the Games! The news shall be presented in this issue’s Sport News, you cannot miss it!

Young people are the future pillars of the society and tomorrow’s sports stars. All along, the SAR Government has been attaching great importance to youth cultivation, and creating favorable conditions for them to open up the road to success. This season, the Football Youth Academy’s training in Portugal and youth sports exchange activities between Fujian and Macao are worth our concerning.   

Sport for All is crucial to local sports development. In addition to competitive sports, the MSDB vigorously promote Sport for All, including Macao Elderly Sports Day, summer activities and the Sports Competition of Public Entities this season. All these activities not only promoted youth’s participation in sports, but also encouraged the elderly to share the fun of sports with their families. We advocate the public’s participation in sports activities, healthy habits of continuous exercises, so as to enhance the quality of life and to create a harmonious and healthy society.

This issue’s Insight on Sport Science will introduce the meaning of “Competitive mindset” and its principles of effective mental skills training through improving rational thinking and mental state in sports situation, which shall enhance athletic performance, as well as one’s capability in daily life.
