Sport for All Fitness and Recreational Classes 2014

Stepped into year 2014, the Macao Sport Development Board increased the class numbers for some popular fitness and recreational classes in response to the public’s needs. The classes include taijiquan, line dance and aerobics for the elderly and middle-aged. Besides, with the diversification of the classes and activities, this year’s projects will include hydro-fitness, swimming for fitness, swimming for kids, swimming for beginners and synchronized swimming for beginners. Dance classes include group aerobics, aerobic gymnastics, belly-dance for body sculpting, step aerobics, kick-boxing aerobics, dancesport, Latin dance, jazz dance, line dance and line dance for kids. For ball games we have croquet, badminton, tennis, squash and bowling, while for other activities we provide taijiquan classes, yoga and yoga for kids, gymnastics for kids, rhythmic gymnastics for young kids, martial arts for kids, fitness classes, figure skating and ice hockey classes, weiqi, chess and Chinese chess. To increase the interest of the participants and advance the sports techniques and knowledge towards the sports programs, some activities are available in advanced level as well. With the view to encouraging the parents to exercise with their children and cultivate children’s interests in sports, Sport for All fitness and recreational classes of this year are available in parent-child sections too. All classes now are offered for residents from the age of four or above, male or female, all are welcome for participation.

In addition, to make full use of social resources and to allow more residents to join the Sport for All fitness and recreational classes, we co-organize a variety of fitness classes with the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macao, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions and the Women’s General Association of Macao to promote the sports activities to all social levels. The activities include qigong for fitness, square dance, softball, taijiquan, aerobics for the middle-aged and elderly in association with the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations; vigor aerobics classes for beginners and intermediate level, qigong for fitness, taijiquan, line dance, yoga, and aerobics for the middle-aged and young people jointly organized by the  Macao Federation of Trade Unions; taijiquan, line dance, belly-dance for body sculpting, yoga, ballroom dancing, aerobics, aerobics for the elderly and middle-aged co-organized with the Women’s General Association of Macao.

Not to leave the differently-abled people in behind, the Macao Sport Development Board is committed to creating an integrated sport platform for the physically-challenged community; hence this year’s activities are continuously available in swimming classes and badminton classes for physically-challenged, mentally-disabled and hearing-impaired people.
