Sport-Health Advisory Station in the First Quarter 2014

To introduce more sports activities to citizens through engaging them in exercising, and to provide them with free physical fitness checkups, professional advices on exercising and information concerning healthy dietary habits, the Macao Sport Development Board organizes the Sport-Health Advisory Station on a weekly basis at various public venues in which many citizens exercise. It was organized in the leisure zones at Rua do General Ivens Ferraz, the Jardim de Luís de Camões and the Jardim Cidade das Flores respectively in the first quarter of 2014

In order to impart the proper way of  doing exercises to citizens, the Macao Sport Development Board invited professional instructors of the Sport for All Gymnastic Classes to demonstrate a series of sports activities, including dance sport, taiji, line dance, rouliqiu, aerobics, baduanjin, aerobic dance and health qigong. The activity provided a platform for citizens to try and learn different sports, choose the sports activities which best fit them, practice exercises more healthily and effectively and hence improve their physical fitness. Besides, citizens also enjoyed free physical fitness checkups conducted by professional healthcare workers of the Sports Medical Centre of the Macao Sport Development Board. They measured blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc. for participating citizens. Thus, citizens had a better understanding of their physical conditions, received related exercising advices and nutrition information, and would be able to work out in a safer and more effective manner in the future under the detailed explanation and patient guidance of professional medical staff.

Through organizing the “Sport-Health Advisory Station”, the Macao Sport Development Board aims at encouraging more people who exercise regularly to pay more attention to their own physical conditions and choose suitable fitness exercises for themselves accordingly. They are advised to reach a moderately intensive exercising level and an accumulated exercising time of 30 minutes or above everyday. Besides, the Board also arouses other people’s interests to engage in fitness exercises and hence raises their awareness to the importance of exercising.
