Editor’s Note

Spring, bringing the vigor and vitality, when every life comes back and everything comes green, portraying the real picture of the Macao sport community. To praise the outstanding achievements made by athletes and benefactors in international tournaments over the past year, the SAR Government held an award ceremony to specially present elite athletes and coaches with prizes and certificates. Let us congratulate them with big hands and share the joy of success! In this edition’s Sports News, readers may have a glimpse of the integrity of the local athletes. Being not afraid of other great opponents and making their full efforts in the 3rd Lusofonia Games held in Goa, India, Macao athletes achieved a gratifying success of winning a total of 15 gold, 9 silver, and 14 bronze medals.

Youth is the future of our society, and hence training young athletes ensures the sustainable development of competitive sports. The SAR Government attaches great importance to the talents’ training, and therefore arranged Selection Day respectively for Table Tennis, Bowling, and Tennis academies. Let’s put great focus on the growth of “nursery” and the future development of the young generation.

Not to forget this year’s “Macao Sports” Photography Competition, readers may well appreciate the beauty of sport and experience the splendid fun through the lens of the cameras. With photograph-lovers’ good work, every breathtaking, coolest ever and touching moment was captured into one and other blissful, fascinating and thrilling sports scenes.

The annual “Women’s Sports Carnival” is again one of our great moments. The carnival promotes women’s participation in sports, and this year we invited women’s teams from eight countries and regions to jointly conduct seminars and organize recreational activities, wherein the benefits and fun of sports were spread around the venue.

Knee joint injuries are commonly caused in either contact or non-contact injury of sports, thus reinforcement of muscles and ligaments is the key to prevention of  knee injuries. This edition’s Sports and Rehabilitation will introduce several basic workouts for strengthening leg muscles training, why don’t we just nip it in the bud?
