Cancellation of Chinese New Year activites organized by Sports Bureau

In response to the current novel coronavirus outbreak and to reinforce the epidemic preventative measures, the Sports Bureau will cancel the upcoming events, including “New Year’s Fortune Bike Ride”, “Lion Dance Joint Performance”, “Race to the Top of the Macao Tower”, “New Year Open Five-a-side Football Tournament”, “New Year 3-on-3 Open Basketball Tournament”, “New Year’s Recreational Activities for the Persons with Disabilities”, “Sport-Health Advisory Station” (2 and 9 February) and “Sport for All Day”. Moreover, classes of Macao Table Tennis Youth Academy, Macao Bowling Youth Academy, Macao Squash Youth Academy,  Macao Wushu Youth Academy, Macao Tennis Youth Academy and Macao Football Youth Academy will be suspended from 24 January to 29 February. The class resumption date will be announced in due course.

Furthermore, testing for the “Macao Physical Fitness Surveillance 2020” will be postponed. The Sports Bureau will contact the organizations and individuals to arrange another testing schedule. The Fitness and Recreational classes (January to February) will also be suspended starting from 24 January, with the related participants data and quotas will be kept for the next phase. The class resumption date will be announced in due course.
