2007-2009 Macao Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon "Sponsorship Agreement Signing Ceremony"

The 26th Macao International Marathon, the 4th sponsor by Galaxy Entertainment Group, designated by "Macao Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon" will take place on the 2nd of December, 2007. Witnessed by Dr. Chui Sai On, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, the ‘2007-2009 Macao Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon "Sponsorship Agreement Signing Ceremony"´ was held yesterday by the Macao Sport Development Board of the Macao SAR Government and the Galaxy Entertainment Group.
The Macao Sport Development Board announced yesterday that the Galaxy Entertainment Group will continue to be the title sponsor of the marathon for three consecutive years at a total sponsorship of MOP 3 million, and that the event will carry the title of ‘Macao Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon´ . After signing of the contract by the Acting President of Macao Sport Development Board Mr. Alex Vong and Director of the Galaxy Entertainment Group Mr. Philip Cheng, a cheque presentation ceremony took place.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Alex Vong, Acting President of Macao Sport Development Board, expressed that the annual ‘Macao International Marathon´ has been taking place for over 25 years since 1981, and thus has become the sports event with the longest history in Macao. The marathon has been attracting many local and international top long-distance runners every year and the number of participants has been increasing year by year with a record number of over 3,000 athletes participating in the last year´ s event, he said.
Mr. Alex Vong also expressed his gratitude to the Galaxy Entertainment Group for its concern and support to the local sports events. He further affirmed that the cooperation between the two parties has laid a firm foundation over the past three years and will create better conditions for this international event, which became popular among local runners and athletes from nearby cities, making it more and more exciting.
Afterwards, Mr. Philip Cheng, Director of the Galaxy Entertainment Group, delivered his speech and mentioned that Galaxy has always been supporting Macao sports development. Apart from being the title sponsor of ‘Macao FIVB World Grand Prix´ and ‘Macao International Marathon´ , Galaxy also encouraged its staff to support the event with their participation and to contribute to the society, he said. He also expressed his sincere appreciation to the organizers for providing an opportunity for the Galaxy Group to take part in the marathon event again.
After the contract signing ceremony, Secretary fro Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Chui Sai On, Mr. Francis Lui, Deputy Chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group, Mr. Alex Vong, Acting President of Macao Sport Development Board and Mr. Ma Iao Hang, Chairman of Macao Athletic Association, were invited to preside over the launch ceremony of the publication of ‘Macao International Marathon 25th Anniversary Special Issue´ , portraying the growth and the footsteps of ‘Macao International Marathon´ and listing the marathon runners over the past 25 years.
Other attending guests included Mr. Lam Hin Fu, President of Macao Athletic Association, Mr. David Banks, Chief Operating Officer of Galaxy Entertainment Group, Mr. Jos?m Maria da Fonseca Tavares, Acting Deputy President of Macao Sport Development Board, Miss Wallis O, Deputy President of Macao Sport Development Board, Miss Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Deputy Director of Macao Government Tourist Office, Mr. Charles Lo, Secretary General of Macao Olympic Committee as well as Sports Council Members Mr. Chang Chin Nam, Mr. Pau Ma Chong, Mr. Van Kuan Lok, Mr. Wu Chong Fai, Mr. Lei Man Iam, Mr. Chan Chak Mo, Mr. Mak Chi Kun and Mr. Un Oi Mou among others.
