Macao International Dragon Boat Races 2020 to Stage Small Dragon Boat Races Tomorrow

Organized by the Sports Bureau and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the Macao International Dragon Boat Races 2020 will stage small dragon boat races on 21 June at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre. The dragon boat themed family carnival was successfully held today in a bustling atmosphere.

The family carnival, themed around dragon boat racing, took place today (20 June) and attracted many residents with fun-packed booth games and dragon boat experience tours, in which participants could gain a deeper understanding of the festive tradition while enjoying the atmosphere.

The Macao International Dragon Boat Races 2020 will stage a number of small dragon boat races (200 m) at 9:30 a.m. on 21 June, including the Macao Small Dragon Boat Race – Open Category and Women Category, Macao Public Entities Small Dragon Boat Race and Macao University Student Small Dragon Boat Race. The Macao Standard Dragon Boat Race (500 m) – Open Category and Women Category will be held on 25 June, the day of the Dragon Boat Festival.

This year’s event will continue to present performances and booths for creative products and local cuisines. With the dragon boat races, visitors will gain an authentic experience of Macao's dragon boat festival celebrations and the event will establish itself as a unique brand of sports tourism in Macao and facilitate the diverse development of the city’s sports sector.

In compliance with anti-pandemic guidelines, the Organizing Committee will continue to implement a series of preventive measures during the Races. All individuals must undergo body temperature checks, present ‘Macao Health Code’ and wear face masks upon entering the venue. The races will be broadcasted live on the television channel TDM Sports in both Chinese and Portuguese, and on the event’s official website.
