Basketball and musical stars converge on Macao for The Terrific 12

Today, Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Asia League held a press conference to formally mark the commencement of The Terrific 12 tournament. As a premier FIBA-recognized platform for offseason competition, The Terrific 12, to be held from September 18-23 at Studio City Event Center in Macao, will bring together elite club teams from China, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, and Chinese Taipei to show off the best of Asian basketball in a single tournament. It will also feature Asia League Fest, a music concert which brings together major performers from across Asia.

At today’s press conference, Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government, spoke, stating that, “This promotes the development of Macao’s sporting and tourism industries. At the same time, we hope that, through cooperation with Asia League, we are able to bring a higher quality of basketball competition to the residents and tourists of Macao, and to promote the development of local and even Asian basketball to a higher level.”

Mr. Matt Beyer, CEO of Asia League, followed, adding that the event, “The Terrific 12 will bring fans the very best in offseason Asian club basketball competition. The teams at the tournament represent top clubs from the region, including star foreign import players from each side. For the people of Macao and millions of basketball fans, it will be an entertainment experience like no other.”

The conference was also attended by Mr. Wu Chong Fai, President of Macau China Basketball Association; Ms. Christine Lam, Vice President of Sports Bureau, Ms. Cora Vong, Head of Marketing Division of Macao Government Tourism Office; Mr. Geoff Andres, Property President of Studio City Macau - Melco Resorts & Entertainment, and Ms. Cheong Man Fai, Head of Division of School Sports and Youth Activities of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau along with around 150 journalists representing China, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Asia League’s network of broadcast partners across Asia will show the excitement of The Terrific 12 to fans from over a dozen countries and regions. A full list of broadcast partners is given below, including recently announced new broadcast partners for The Terrific 12.
