The premier women’s volleyball tournament, the FIVB World Grand Prix Finals will take place from 24 to 28 August in the Macao East Asian Games Dome, under the organization of the Macao Sport Development Board and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China, presented with the title sponsor from the Galaxy Entertainment Group.  The organizers and title sponsor held a sponsorship signing ceremony and press conference to announce details of the event.

With the witness of Mr. Cheong U, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, the Macao Sport Development Board and the Galaxy Entertainment Group organized a sponsorship signing ceremony, and announced the event title as ”2011 Macao Galaxy Entertainment FIVB World Grand Prix Finals”, followed by the presentation of the sponsorship cheque.

The tournament will feature 16 teams, which includes the defending champion USA, Argentina, Brazil, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Peru, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Thailand. The preliminary round is set to take place for 3 weekends from 5 to 21 August, with the 16 teams being allocated to 4 groups competing 24 matches per week. For the final round, the China team plus the top 7 ranked teams after the preliminary rounds will be qualified for a 5-day battle of the champion in Macao.

Ticket sales will begin from 5 July in all local Circle K convenience stores or the online service via the event website www.macauwgp.com. Tickets are available across 9 sessions and each session ticket entitles holders to watch two matches.  Tickets dated from 24 to 26 August will be categorized into 2 sessions of MOP$100 and MOP$150; tickets on 27 August will be categorized into 2 sessions of MOP$100 and MOP$200; and matches for the winner and runners up on 28 August will be sold at a single price of MOP$200.  More than that, any purchase of tickets in the Circle K will be entitled to an early bird offer: Tickets priced MOP$100 or MOP$150 can be purchased at the special price of MOP$50, and tickets priced MOP$200 can be purchased at the special price of MOP$100.

To add extra excitement to the games, the organizers will be launching the GEG’s “The Final Eight ”Guessing Game for the first time this year.  Each ticket purchase at the Circle K will be given a Lucky Draw Card, and participants are invited to fill out their selected final 8 teams and submit the Card into the drawing boxes, while online ticket purchasers can participate in the guessing game instantly on the website.  The lucky audiences who got all Final Eight correctly will be eligible to enter the lucky draw and have a chance to win magnificence prizes presented by the event’s title sponsor, Galaxy Entertainment Group, including luxury suites from Galaxy Hotel™ and Hotel Okura Macao, Spa package from Banyan Tree Macao and food and beverage coupons from Galaxy Macao™.  The Grand Prize of the lucky draw is a 3-day-2-night package for 2 to Banyan Tree Phuket, with round trip Business Class tickets between Hong Kong and Phuket.
