The 45th International Children’s Games

The 45th International Children’s Games was held from the 4th to the 7th of August at Lanarkshire, Scotland. Macao sent a delegation of 25 members to compete in the Games, participating in four events: athletics, swimming, judo and badminton.

The International Children’s Games was created especially for children aged between 12 and 15 years old. The Games aims to cultivate local young athletes and offer them valuable opportunities to compete with and exchange experiences with athletes from other countries and regions. The Games is the world’s largest sports event for children and have been held 44 times in the past. The Macao SAR has sent delegation to participate in the past 5 Games in Thailand, Iceland, United States, Greece and Bahrain, providing children of Macao excellent opportunities to develop and show their talents in sports. This year over 1,500 athletes from 77 countries and regions participated in the Games.

This year, athletes from the Macao delegation won 5 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals in swimming (men’s breaststroke), athletics (long jump) and judo.
