Since the establishment of the Macao Wushu Youth Academy in 2007, the academy has sought continued development and recruited more than 400 students. The academy helps to nurture and train many elite athletes in Macao, whom have achieved excellent results in many major competitions such as Asian Youth Championship and World Youth Championship. In order that parents understand more about the learning process of the students and for the public to gain a better understanding of the training programs and operation of the academy, the Macao Wushu Youth Academy, which is jointly established by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Wushu General Association, organized the Macao Wushu Youth Academy Fun Day on 26th June at the Macao International Shooting Range – Finals Shooting Range.
On the day, a group of youth Wushu students opened the event with a demonstration of basic martial art techniques, which included leg pressing, forward front kick, inside crescent kick, and more difficult ones including cartwheel and constant forward head flip with hands. After that, athletes of the Macao Wushu Team performed a series of Taolou and Sanshou routines and wowed the spectators, parents, students, and coaches with their wonderful performances.
In order to commend the students for their efforts and achievements in the past year, the attending guests presented the “Trainings, Competitions, and Cultural learning” excellence award as encouragement to 21 students. This year’s event was greatly received and was attended by over 400 parents, residents, and students. Besides the performance, there were also other activities such as game booths and Q&A session. and the enthusiasm of participants made the Fun Day a very lively event.
