Editor’s Note

As spring comes and everything becomes fresh again, the Macao sports field is also full of vitality. With the beginning of a new year, the Macao Sports also welcomes its new start. To begin with, let me offer my deepest gratitude and best wishes to all readers, for the ongoing supports they have given to this quarterly publication.

Last year, Macao’s athletes with their unremitting efforts and dedication won honorable reputations in various international competitions they took part in. Especially at the 16th Asian Games, they turned a new page in the history by winning Macao’s first gold medal in Asian Games. To honor the athletes and coaches who took part in international competitions and gained outstanding achievements last year, the SAR Government held an award ceremony and rewarded the athletes and coaches with prize awards and certificates of merit. This was an exciting and heartening moment, on which let us look back together, and share the joy with the award winners.

The much anticipated animated version of the “Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival” demonstrates, in a lively and vivid way, the style and features of the city, and different aspects of people’s life back in the Song dynasty. Together let us review the long standing and well established cultures and history of our country and share the glory of the Chinese civilization.

Capturing the essence of sports by photographers from different angles and with various photography techniques, readers can learn about the brilliant moments of  Macao’s sports circle in the last year, and realize the beauty of sports through the interpretation of these marvelous images.

Sport for all forms a vital part of the SAR Government’s implementation of sports-related policies. In order to broaden the dimension of Sport for All, and to offer more opportunities for residents to participant in Sport for All activities, Macao Sport Development Board signed the “Cooperation Agreement of Sport for All” with 3 civil associations. Moreover, with the successive launching of “Sport for All Day”, “Sports and Health Consultation Service Point” and “Sport for All Fitness and Recreation Classes”, readers can experience the fun and pleasure of sports from the articles in this publication.

This time in “Sports and Nutrition” we will introduce to readers the symptoms of fatigue and how to counter fatigue with diets. In addition, “One Minute of Sports and You” will discuss about problems existed in children’s development and the benefits of sports for children.
