Editor’s Note

    With social development, residents are more aware and are paying more attention to sports and physical exercise. Through this issue of “Sport News”, readers can learn about the government’s social and culture policies on sports, and together participate in and promote the development of sports in Macao.

    In July, the beautiful and tranquil Nam Van Lake was richly imbued with a festive mood, with drums and gongs playing aloud and colourful flags fluttering in the streets. The Macao 2010, 7th Club Crew World Championships were hosted by Macao for the first time. In addition to bearing witness to the rapid development of Macao’s dragon boat racing activities, the Championships acted as a bridge of friendship for people from all over the world.

    Through this issue ‘Sports News’, readers can stay updated on Macao’s sports news in this quarter, experience the joy of Macao and Guangzhou in welcoming the Asian Games, appreciate the outstanding performance of China’s new line-up in the women’s national volleyball team, and jointly share the fun of the Sports Carnival and fruitful achievement of Macao’s sports delegation in the Special Olympics Games.

    The third quarter of ‘Sport for All’ is equally exciting, which includes regular activities such as Sport for All Day, Sport and Health Consultation Services, as well as the annual Macao Elderly Sports Day, and the Summer Activity – Experience Tour to the Asian Games.

    Furthermore, frequent exchanges and visits were conducted in this quarter, including an Observation Tour to the 13th Guangdong Games, Junior Sports Exchange Games 2010 - Badminton, and Sichuan-Macao Youth Sports Exchange Activity, etc.

    The current issue of ‘About Sports Science’ informs readers about muscle related to injuries and electro-acupuncture as an effective treatment for curing acute and chronic muscle injuries.

    The ‘Public Sports Facilities Network’ will feature the new look of S. Lourenço Temporary Sports and Recreational Zone, which provides more choices for Macao residents to select suitable sports activities according to their needs.
