France's Team Péan Takes Victory at Macau Cup International Regatta

The 2020 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta & Macau Cup International Regatta, organized by the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Across Four Oceans Sailing Event Management, and in association with the Marine and Water Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macau Sailing Association, was held from January 9 to 12. After four days of fierce competition among the sailing teams from Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and all over the world, finally, Team Péan from France, Team Wink Culture Group from Hong Kong and Team Vayu from Thailand were crowned the overall champions in the Macau Cup International Regatta, the Greater Bay Area Cup Regatta and the International Catamaran Invitational respectively.

The event highlight, the Macau Cup International Regatta ─ Beneteau First 40.7 Class, was held on January 12. Team Péan won the first race of the day putting themselves in a prime position. Although the team placed third after the second round, Péan completed a successful campaign and defeated other strong teams, finishing 12 points ahead. Estonia's team Windy, with steady performance, and Russia's team Vivat Sailing took second and third place respectively.

In the Greater Bay Area Regatta IRC Racing, Team Wink Culture Group from Hong Kong put up strong performance and won the title, while Hong Kong's Team BLU secured second prize and local team Sugram Seamo finished in third.

In the International Catamaran Invitational Hobie16 Class, Thailand's Vayu team took first place in the last three rounds to win the championship, while Korea's Diva team came in second place and Thailand's Phoenix team followed in third.

A fleet parade took place to inaugurate the competition. The participating vessels, following the judge's boat, set sail from Macau Fisherman's Wharf, passing through Macau Science Centre, Kun Iam Ecumenical Centre and Governador Nobre de Carvalho Bridge, before returning at the Macau Tower water area.
