The Sports Bureau Visits Nine Cities in Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area

To implement and participate in the promotional works of constructing the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area, and to facilitate the communication and cooperation with the sports administrations in the city group of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area, the Sports Bureau delegation, led by President Pun Weng Kun, visited the sports administrations and a number of sports training bases in Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou, Jiangmen, Foshan, Guangzhou and Zhaoqing from March 14 to 21.

The Sports Bureau consecutively visited Zhuhai Cultural and Sports Tourism Bureau, Zhongshan Education and Sports Bureau, Shenzhen Sports Tourism Bureau, Dongguan Sports Bureau, Huizhou Sports Bureau, Jiangmen Sports Bureau, Foshan Sports Bureau, Guangzhou Sports Bureau, and Zhaoqing Sports Bureau, and participated in the respective working meetings. President Pun Weng Kun introduced Macao's current development in the sports area to the sports administration of each city, and discussed the future communication and collaboration between the administrations in the sports area. During the meetings, the sports administration of each city gave an overview of the city's sports development, and exchanged thoughts on the future collaboration in the sports area with our bureau. It is hoped that the exchange of sports information among different regions can deepen the understanding among the sports administrations, so as to seek for opportunities of facilitating sports development mutually.

The delegation also visited places such as Zhuhai Sports School, Zhuhai Sports Center, Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center Stadium and Zhaoqing National Water Sports Training Base.

The schedule of visiting activities was tight but the visit was fruitful. It helped building up positive partnerships between Macao and cities in Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Bay Area effectively, and deepening regional collaboration in sports. As such, complementary advantages and coordinated development can be achieved.
