Thai Contestant Pavit Tangkamolprasert Won the 1st Prize in Macau Golf Open

After a four-day fierce competition, the 2016 Macau Golf Open came to successful ending. Pavit Tangkamolprasert was leading all the way from start to finish. In the final, he was fighting with competitor - the champion in 2014 Anirban Lahiri in the play-off, but still kept the superiority, two pars ahead of Anirban Lahiri and won the championship at last by scoring 268 pars of 16 under par and under one par in the play-off. After the competition, Pavit said, “Including the trophy, all of the victory is telling my compatriot that I've made it, and I'll dedicate the prize to my King- Phumiphon Adunyadet, who just passed away.”

Fighting in Play-Off

It was a heated championship in this year and five golfers including previous champion Anirban Lahiri were all in lead in the second day. It became more excited in the final at 16th October. Pavit's performance was almost perfect, he did not score bogey all the way and birdied 7 times successfully. Anirban Lahiri was erratic in his first performance, he scored bogey in the second hole but succeeded to birdie in the third hold. Then he scored bogey in the 5th and 7th hole but birdie in the 8th and 9th hole again, scoring 35 even pars after finished the first 9 holes. After that, he played excellently at the coming 9 holes. Although Anirban Lahiri scored bogey in the 11th hole and kept scoring birdie in the successive 7 holes, he still got into the final to compete with Pavit.

Dedicate the 1st Prize to Thai King Bhumibol

In the play-off, Anirban Lahiri drove the ball first but has accidentally driven the ball into water in the second par which made him scored bogey and finished the 18th hole with one higher par. Pavit finished the play-off with 1 under par, 2 pars ahead of Lahiri and became the 1st prize winner in the championship. The first prize winner Pavit said, “My performance was average today and I've done great in the competition. To tell the truth, I didn't think I needed to have play-off but I'm lucky because Lahiri drove the ball into water accidentally in his second par. That made me bring into play with ease and I'm satisfied with my performance in Macau this week.” The second prize winner Lahiri said, “I'm happy for Pavit. Today his performance was stable and perfect even though in the play-off, he still kept being stable. His victory was deserved.”

India golfer Chikkarangappa S. and Chinese Taipei golfer Chan Shih-Chang finished the final with overall score of 271, 13 under pars and got the 3rd prize. The four local representative golfers of Macau finished the second round competition but it was a pity no one can advance to the final.
