Jointly held by the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province, the Home Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong SAR Government, the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Continental Holdings Limited, the 13th Guangdong International Sporting Goods Fair solemnly opened at 9 a.m. on September 9th, 2016 at Poly World Trade Centre Exhibition Hall of the Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou.
In order to promote the local sports industry, the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government displayed, in a booth it installed at the Fair, information regarding major international sport events and Sport For All activities held in Macao, the city's sports venues, in addition to providing a general introduction of Macao. The booth attracted many visitors to stop by to collect promotional flyers and enquire about the city of Macao. The authority also set up bowling games to promote sport in an interactive manner, which were popular with visitors.
The inauguration ceremony of this year's Fair was officiated by Yuan Weimin, former Director of the Chinese General Administration of Sports, Wang Yuping, Director of the Sports Bureau of Guangdong Province, Lin Ying, Vice Director, Kwan Chung Wai and Wong Heung Hung, senior leisure manager and leisure manager of the Hong Kong SAR Leisure and Cultural Services Department respectively, and Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government.
The Sport Goods Fair showcased a wide range of sporting exhibits, including facilities used in sport stadiums, fitness equipment, outdoor leisure products and professional sportswear. The event attracted a great number of visitors from home and aboard as well as those concerned with Macao's sports affairs. After the inauguration ceremony, officiating guests visited the exhibit booths.
