Fierce Races of the 62<sup>nd</sup> Macau Grand Prix

Felix Rosenqvist Defends F3 Champion

The historical “Macau Grand Prix” has been held 62 sessions until this year. As usual, the spotlight of the race focused on Formula 3 Macau Grand Prix (F3), Motorcycle Grand Prix and Macau Guia Race. Moreover, co-organized with the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the world's first GT World Cup has highlighted the event.

Racing Drivers Dropped Out from Smash-ups

228 racing drivers from 31 countries and regions have joined the race this year, including 49 local racing drivers taking extraordinary challenges of “overseas dragon squads”. After 4 days'fierce race, the highest level race - F3 came on the finale. The smash-up in the second round drove off many drivers. Swedish driver Felix Rosenqvist grasped the chance to struggle with Monaco driver Charles Leclerc. He finally overwhelmed opponents with 1.168 second and defended his champion. 

Maro Engel won GT World Cup

GT World Cup was first upgraded to world championship, it took a dramatic turn outs. The defending champion Maro Engel was in pole position to challenge his main opponent – “The Audi Duo” René Rast and Edoardo Mortara, as well as his teammate Renger Van Der Zande of Mercedes-AMG Drivig Academy. Until the 12th lap, Zande's chariot crashed the wall and damaged its rear fender; Engel had to deal with Rast and Mortara without protection. Accidents happened two laps later and the yellow flag was raised. While Canadian driver John Shen crashed the barriers, the red flag was raised directly to end the competition. Engel had been leading the race to stand twice on the top of the podium.   

Stefano Comini won the champion in Macau Guia Race

Macau Guia Race also ended in severe accidents after 10 laps in 2 rounds. European drivers had embraced all prizes. After English driver Rob Huff won the first round, he crashed with Spanish driver Jordi Gené at the beginning of second round. Safety car once came out to stop the race. Swedish driver Stefano Comini led smoothly after the race resumed. He finally won the second round as well as the first TCR champion by continuous leading.

Peter Hickman first won in MotorGP

 “The King of MotorGP”, Michael Rutter, has lost his 9th Champion. There were 12 laps in Motorcycle Grand Prix. Ranked second start Rutter had takenthe lead. However, ranked first start Martin Jessopp soon snatched back the position. Later, Hickman tried hard to catch up, the race became a struggle between Jessopp and Hickman. English driver Hickman had been the second lead before entering Lisboa Bend in the 9th lap, then he grasped the chance to overtake Jessopp. He grew in courage to first finish the race in 22 minutes and 22.021seconds and first won in MotorGP. Jessopp finished the race 6 seconds behind and got the second place , missed the champion again, after several races in Macau. Rutter won the third place with 15.6 seconds lag; while last champion Stuart Easton failed to complete the race this year.
