May Day National Gymnastics Elite Performance

To celebrate the festivity of the International Workers’ Day and to enrich the holiday, the Macao SAR Government entrusted the Macao Sport Development Board to organize the May Day National Gymnastics Elite Performance in Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion at 2 pm on May 1st . Its opening ceremony was hosted by the Chief Executive of Macao SAR, Dr. Fernando Chui Sai On. The wonderful performance by the Chinese national gymnastics delegation athletes also added to the conviviality on the May Day.

The General Administration of Sport of China showed great support by sending their national gymnastics elite athletes to Macao to perform rhythmic gymnastics, gymnastics skills and trampoline. The delegation includes, 2008 Beijing Olympic Games trampoline champion Ms. He Wenna, 2012 London Olympic Games trampoline champion Mr. Dong Dong, 2007 World Championships trampoline champion Mr. Ye Shuai and 2013 World Championships group champion Ms. Li Meng and other national outstanding gymnastics athletes whose skilful gymnastic demonstrations won thunderous applause from the audience. Other programmes, such as the students’ performances from the Macao Gymnastics Association gymnastic, the lucky draw, the Macao singers Mr. Sean Pang and Mr. Terence Chui’s performances, etc. and the interaction between the athletes and the participants also contributed to creating a lively atmosphere.

Other attending guests in the opening ceremony included the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR Mr. Li Gang, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Mr. Cheong U, the Chief of the Office of Chief Executive Mr. Tam Chon Weng, the Director-General for Policy Research Department in the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the MSAR of the People’s Republic of China Mr. Nie Quan, the Acting President of the Macao Sport Development Board Mr. José Tavares and the Chinese national gymnastics delegation leader Mr. Lu Shanzhen.
