The 6<sup>th</sup> East Asian Games

“The 6th East Asian Games” was held in Tianjin, China between October 6 and 15, attracting delegates from nine East Asian countries and regions. About 210 athletes from Macao were delegated to compete for fifteen sport events (out of a total of twenty-four) in this year’s East Asian Games, including: Aquatic Sports (Swimming, Diving), Athletics, Badminton, Bowling, Cycling Road, DanceSport, Dragon Boat, Judo, Karate, Shooting, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Weightlifting and Wushu (Sanshou, Taolu).

Engaged in the games with full efforts, the Macao delegation achieved a great success among the sport events of Wushu, Karate, Taekwondo, Diving and Dragon Boat, in which our delegation won a total of 3 gold, 5 silver and 19 bronze medals, made its seventh position in this year’s medal standings.

During the Games, sports observation delegation led by Mr. Cheong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao, was there to watch the opening ceremony and several sport events in the 6th East Asian Games, which encouraged the Macao athletes to work hard and try their best for the honor of the Macao SAR.

This year’s East Asian Games already reached its final session, four years later in 2019, the games will be replaced by the “East Asian Youth Games” and in which the age group will be adjusted to 14 - 18.
