Anti-pandemic measures and COVID test for participants

Because of the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Organizing Committee is implementing anti-pandemic in accordance with the guidelines of the Health Bureau to ensure a safe environment for the races.  According to the Health Bureau’s anti-pandemic guidelines, participants must undergo a nucleic acid test for COVID-19 before the race, and must show a proof of negative result when entering the venue on race day.

For this reason, the Organizing Committee has made the following nucleic acid test arrangements in coordination with the Health Bureau:

  • Testing date: 30 November to 4 December 2020;
  • Testing site and time: Taipa Ferry Terminal 10:00-19:00; Macao Forum 09:00-18:00;
  • Appointment method: As from today, participants may logon to the following website to make an appointment: https://app.ssm.gov.mo/marathonrnabook. The participant’s name and identity document information provided upon registration are required;

All participants must bring along their event registration slip and identity document presented at the time of registration to the testing site at the appointed time, and are not required to pay a testing fee. Non-Macao residents who registered with a document other than their passport, such as a Non-resident Worker’s Identification Card, should also bring along their passports for the test.  For participants who are unable to make appointment and undergo testing at the aforementioned time, they should present on race day a proof of negative COVID test result issued by a medical institution in Macao or in China.

The Organizing Committee will continue to closely monitor the development of the pandemic. In addition to the above nucleic acid test arrangements, all individuals are also required to undergo body temperature checks and present a valid “Macao Health Code” upon entering the venue on race day, and spectators and staff are required to wear face masks at all times.  Furthermore, the Organizing Committee would like to remind all participants to comply with Law No. 2/2004 of the Macao SAR – “Law on the Prevention, Control and Treatment of Infectious Diseases”, and to pay attention to and cooperate with the Macau SAR Government’s anti-pandemic measures and quarantine requirements upon arrival.

Activities to elevate the atmosphere of the event

The popular activities from previous years – ‘Join Us and Upload Best Shot to Win Lucky Draw’ and ‘Most Creative Costume Award’ will again feature this year. Interested participants may download the ‘Macao Marathon’ mobile app and upload one photo related to this year’s marathon.  The former is open to both runners and non-runners alike, while the latter is only open to runners in the 2020 Macao International Marathon.  All participants are in with a chance to win fabulous prizes.

The Organizing Committee would like to remind all participants to practice and prepare for the races as their level of fitness permits, and to read the regulations carefully. For further details and regulations of the event, please visit the official website at www.macaomarathon.com.
