On February 19 of 2003, the first delegation of 11 experts from China Sports Industry Co., Ltd. arrived in Macao, where they were warmly welcomed by the staff of the Macao East Asian Games Organizing Committee (MEAGOC). China Sports Industry Co., Ltd. is the premiere industrial sports firm in China and known for its expertise in organizing sports competitions, conducting specialized personnel training, and providing electronic information system management support and various other services related to sports. In order to better guarantee highly successful 4th East Asian Games to be held in Macao in 2005, China Sports Industry Co., Ltd. and MEAGOC will work jointly as partners on a mutually beneficial basis when planning and implementing this important international event.
Led by Mr. Zheng Yuchun, Vice General Manager and a director of the Board of China Sports Industry Co. Ltd., the delegation also includes: Mr. Liu Yaqun, Deputy Head of the delegation; Mr. Wu Shouzhang, Vice President of the Chinese Olympic Committee; Mr. Chen Liming, Senior Advisor of China Sports Competition Management Company, Ltd.; and Mr. Zhang Rudong of the China Sports Architecture Committee.
Accompanied by MEAGOC staff members, the delegation visited Macao Stadium, the Macao Olympic Natatorium, Macao Forum, Macao’s Olympic Complex and Mong-Ha Pavilion. During the visit, the experts gave their advice and commented on issues regarding layout, functions of various spaces, construction techniques, and so on.
From February 20th to the 24th, the delegation and MEAGOC held a series of meetings on issues related to the organization of the 4th East Asian Games competitions, construction of facilities, electronic information system management, marketing, promotion and publicity, opening and closing ceremonies, etc.
Another important activity of delegation members was to give four lectures on sport games management at MEAGOC from February 22-23. Lecture topics included organization and preparation of games, general schedule and competition arrangements, standards and construction of facilities, and electronic information system management. This officially marked the beginning of the professional training program for the 4th East Asian Games.
Participants in the training program included over 80 people from MEAGOC, the Macao Sport Development Board and other sports organizations in Macao. Drawing from their professional knowledge and with detailed handouts, the experts from China Sports Industry Co., Ltd. carefully explained how to ensure success when organizing the Games. As the lectures were closely related to organizational activities required when planning and implementing the 4th East Asian Games, participants were highly interested and felt that the training was useful.
During their visit, experts of the delegation put forward practical advice in various areas to assist MEAGOC in their preparation for the Games. The joint partners also worked on documents required when coordinating the diverse work and planning for the Games. On February 25, the delegation returned to Beijing. Through this fruitful interchange, both parties were able to establish cooperative relationships that will better guarantee successful preparation for the 4th East Asian Games to be held in Macao in 2005.
