2019-09-20

In a brief break from the action of the “East Asia Super League – The Terrific 12” tournament, players and coaches visited Fu Luen School and Sheng Kung Hui Choi Kou School Macao, teaching youngsters new skills and sharing their passion for the sport of basketball.

Major stars including Liaoning Flying Leopards star players Yu Zechen and Zhejiang Guangsha Lions talents Zhao Jiaren and Zhao Jiayi visited the Fu Luen School. Skills were on display as players delighted the students with slam dunks, tricks, fast foot work, and gifts.

At the Sheng Kung Hui Choi Kou School Macao, middle school students of all different levels got the chance to meet international stars in the flesh including including Seoul SK Knights standout Kim Wookyum and San Miguel Beermen frontmen Junemar Fajardo. Following a display of their own skills through a team game, the students posed for photos with the stars.

“As our school’s basketball program is relatively new, providing the kids with the opportunity to interact with elite basketball players is a great honor,” said one Choi Kou teacher. It was no burden to the players; “We are happy to see these kids be inspired by us,” said Fajardo.

The players visited the schools on the rest day of The Terrific 12, using their time with the kids as an opportunity to recharge their batteries before plunging into the heated competition of the semifinals on September 21.

The 2018 The Terrific 12 and Summer Super 8 also included community activity, including visits to local schools and local referee training clinics.
