China, Poland, Serbia and Thailand arrive in Macao FIVB VNL 2018

The FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League (VNL) – Macao 2018, organized by the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China, and presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), will be held from 22 to 24 May (Tuesday to Thursday) at the Macao Forum. The four participating teams - China, Poland, Serbia and Thailand  arrived in Macao today to prepare for the upcoming matches.

2016 Olympic champions China arrived at the Macau International Airport this afternoon.  The team is led by head coach Lang Ping and captain Liu Xiaotong with key players Li Yingying, Yang Fangxu, Gong Xiangyu and Ding Xia, and are warmly by members of the Organizing Committee including the President of the Sports Bureau Pun Weng Kun and the President of Volleyball Association of Macao, China Chan Mun Fong.

China currently sits fifth in the league table with six points, having won two games and lost one in the first game week in Ningbo.  Also with two wins and one loss so far in the tournament are Serbia (fourth in league table) who lasted came to Macao in 2016, and with key players such as Brankica Mihajlovic and Jovana Stevanovic they are looking to avenge their defeat to China in the Olympics final.  On the other hand, Thailand and Poland are currently in tenth and thirteenth place respectively after both recorded one win and two losses in the first week.  All teams will strive for the best results in Macao as they look to improve their rankings in the league table.

The Macao pool starts on 22 May with Serbia playing against Thailand and China against Poland; 23 May features Poland versus Serbia and China versus Thailand; and on the final day 24 May, Poland first plays against Thailand and then China and Serbia will conclude the week’s action.

Tickets are in high demand and selling out quickly especially for the final day.  The remaining tickets are for purchase at 15 designated Circle K convenience stores in Macao and also on the official website www.macaovnl.com.  Each ticket is priced at MOP150 per day and is valid for two matches with free seating.

In order to further enhance audience engagement during the competition, “My Favorite Galaxy Star Player and Team” competition will be hosted to offer spectators the chance to vote for their favorite player and team and to be in with an opportunity to win hotel accommodation as well as food and beverage prizes.
