“Macao Major Sporting Events” Facebook Page

In order to promote the development of sports industry, to create a platform that combines sports, tourism and cultural creativity for promoting major sporting events and to enrich the entertainment experience for tourists and residents, the Sports Bureau organized various annual major sporting events with the objective of positioning Macao as a sport tourism city.

This year the Sports Bureau will continue to hold several popular sporting events for residents and tourists alike.  The brand new FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League Macao 2018 will be held at the Macao Forum from 22 to 24 May, and the participating teams China, Poland, Serbia and Thailand, will compete to achieve good results and high rankings.  The Macao International Dragon Boat Races, which has always been well received by residents, athletes and tourists, will take place from 16 to 18 June 2018 at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre. The participating teams are currently preparing for the competition and exciting races are anticipated.  The Wushu Masters Challenge 2018 will be held from 2 to 5 August, with the event containing competitions, performances, carnival, parade and closing extravaganza, among others, to present the essence of wushu in different ways.  The famous Macau Grand Prix celebrates the 65th anniversary this year, with intense competitions among world’s best drivers and riders from 15 to 18 November at the Guia Circuit. The final major sporting event this year is the Macao Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon 2018 which will take place on the morning of 2 December starting at the Olympic Sports Centre - Stadium.  Athletes and long-distance running enthusiasts are advised to follow updates regarding the date of registration.

To provide citizens, tourists and sports enthusiasts an efficient channel to receive information on major sporting events in Macao and to enhance interaction with the public, the Sports Bureau today launches the official Macao Major Sporting Events Facebook page with informative contents including latest news, event registration, ticket information, interviews and video highlights.  In addition, in order to expand promotion and to extend connection to nearby regions, a WeChat account will also be launched in the near future with further information and related news to follow.
