Sports and Cultural Performances to Commemorate the National Day

To commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Government of the M.S.A.R. organized a National Day Sports and Cultural Performances, which was undertaken by the Macao Sport Development Board. The “Pop Star Power Show” performance, took place at the Macao East Asian Games Dome on October 1st. The Chief Executive of the MSAR, Mr. Fernando Chui Sai On, the Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Ms. Zhang Jinfeng, the Deputy Secretary of the Education Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Ms. Xu Ting, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Mr. Cheong U, the Chief of Office of the Chief Executive, Mr. Tam Chon Weng, the President of the Macao Sport Development Board, Mr. Vong Iao Lek, and a public representative from Macao presided the opening ceremony.

Four young singers from Macao--Vivian Chan, Sean Pang, German Ko, and Terence Siufay led the show. In addition to performing their tuneful songs, they also interacted with the audience to promote the message “Let’s exercise for our Health”. Hong Kong artists Joey Yung, Twins, Raymond Lam, Vincy Chan, Sherman Chung, William Chan, Ken Hung, Wong Cho Lam, Mag Lam, Deep Ng, and Boy’z were also invited to perform in the show.

The National Day Sports and Cultural Performances attracted more than 6,000 spectators from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. The enthusiastic and passionate performances put forward by the artists garnered the thunderous applause of the spectators. The spectators danced, swayed and cheered along with the music, giving the show a warm atmosphere.
