Editor’s Note

We have reached the end of Autumn, a very exciting time in the world of sports in Macao. In addition to the internationally renowned sports events, such as the Macao Galaxy Entertainment International Marathon and the Macao International Kart Grand Prix, major event such as the Macao “Sports Carnival” also took place. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Macao International Marathon drew the participation of over 6,000 athletes from 60 countries and territories, the highest number of participants in its history. Readers may, through the present edition, get to know better the current situation of sports in Macao, and share the satisfaction of participating in sports.

In addition to this, sports delegations of Macao participated in several multisport games, such as the 7th National City Games and in the 8th All China Games for the Disabled of People’s Republic of China. We will describe the heroic performances put in by these athletes, and publish several moving photographs, particularly those which depict the indomitable fighting spirit of these competitors, who have undoubtedly earned our admiration and appreciation, allowing us all to share in their elation.

The promotion and popularization of Sport for All has been one of the main areas of our work. After reading the “Sport for All” article in the current edition, our readers will gain a greater knowledge of the current situation of the activities being carried out in Macao within the scope of Sport for All.

The article “Exchange” serves as a window which allows our readers to get to know better about the exchange activities carried out abroad by the Macao SAR in the field of sports. In the current edition we will talk about the “Guangdong-Macao Football Tournament”, the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Football Exchange Activities”, the “Sichuan and Macao Youth Sports Exchange Activities”, and the International Sport for All Association (TAFISA) World Congress, allowing us all to gleam more knowledge of the interchange activities carried out by the Macao SAR abroad.

The current “Exercise and Rehabilitation” article describes the treatments for injuries to the patella cartilage, which occur frequently in athletes, middle-aged persons and the elderly. The article will allow our readers to learn about the causes of such injuries, as well as prevention and treatment methods.

Finally, I would like to thank our readers for the support and encouragement they have given us. We will, in the future continue to perform our tasks with zeal and continue to fulfil the role of “Macao Sports”, as a bridge for to promote and facilitate the development of sports in Macao.
