Sport Exchange Meeting

To further strengthen communications and exchanges between the sport sectors of Macao and mainland China, and promote the development of sports in Macao, a meeting was held on 4th April this year, at the invitation by the Macao Sport Development Board between Mr. Li Binghua, the former Vice-chairman of Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee and the current Director of the Executive Board of Beijing Sports Foundation and representatives of the local sport sector.

Mr. Vong Iao Lek, the President of the Macao Sport Development Board, offered a welcoming speech for the arrival of Mr. Li Binghua, who would share with the representatives of the Macao sport sector on his precious experiences in organizing large-scaled international sport events and on training volunteers. Mr. Vong also expressed his expectation that Macao and Beijing would make a greater progress in exchanging experience and training of sport event administrators, athletes and technicians.

At the Meeting, Mr. Li Binghua offered a retrospective look at the volunteer training programs during the periods of Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Beijing municipal experiences of training volunteers were summarized into a scientific, standardized and professional framework for constructing a future blueprint for volunteer training. He sincerely hoped that the volunteer organizations of both sides would maintain close exchanges and cooperation and make joint efforts to push forward the tasks of volunteer training so as to deepen mutual friendship and promote a harmonious development of society.

Other attending guests included: Mr. Ma Iao Hang, Chairman of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China; Mr. Lo Keng Chio, President of Executive Board of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China; Sport Council members; volunteers of Beijing Olympic & Paralympic Games, Guangzhou Asian & Asian Para Games Macao Venues; volunteers of Macao large-scaled sport events and representatives of sport associations, et al.
