The 4th Sports Management Training Course

Jointly organised by the Macao Sport Development Board and Beijing Sport University, the 4th Sports Management Training Course was held at the Beijing Sport University between 31st May and 3rd June. Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Cheong U attended the opening ceremony of the course on 31st May and later that evening, invited 37 people to a banquet, including the Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China Liu Peng and Vice Minister Yu Zaiqing and a number of leaders from the Ministry, Vice President of the Beijing Sport University, Adviser of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and President of the Macao Sport Development Board Vong Iao Lek, Assistant Officer of the Culture and Education Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in MSAR Wang Lujiao, and the Macao students.

At the opening ceremony Secretary Cheong U extended gratitude to the Beijing Sport University for its great support to the Macao sports over the years. In addition to acquainting themselves with the latest knowledge of today’s sports, leaders of the Macao sports associations and general associations agreed that they have benefited immensely from the Management Training Course held in the past years. Cheong hoped that the Macao sports circle and the Beijing Sport University continue to maintain a good co-operative relationship. He also wished the Macao students would benefit from the course and make contributions to Macao’s sports activities.

During the dinner banquet, Secretary Cheong U thanked the General Administration of Sport of China for its unsparing support and assistance to the Macao Sport Development Board and Macao’s sports development in different areas, particularly the East Asian Games, Lusophony Games and Asian Indoor Games held in Macao. He hoped that through this training, the Macao sports circle can better understand sports development in Mainland China and the General Administration of Sport of China will continue to support Macao’s sports development.

In his address, Minister Liu Peng warmly welcomed the arrival of Secretary Cheong and the Macao students in Beijing and extended wishes to the Macao students to garner fruitful results upon completing the course. He also praised the favourable achievements of sports in Macao since its handover and thanked Macao’s sports circle for lending great support to Mainland China, particularly the reconstruction work after the Wenchuan earthquake in Sichuan province. He also noted the latest sports development in China, particularly in areas of competitive sports, sport for all and the most recent reform measures introduced at the All-China Games. He hoped that the two regions can work together jointly to promote sports development.;

The 4th Sports Management Training Course was held at Beijing Sport University from 31st May to 3rd June. A total of 37 leaders from Macao’s Sports Council and sports associations participated in the course. The course covered the Basic Law, sports and physical fitness, selection of athletes, preparation of Chinese athletes and psychological skills training for Olympic participation, current status and development of Olympic Games, Baduanjin trial exercise and visits to the training base of national team and science centre of Beijing Sport University. The four-day course aimed to educate students on the basic knowledge of sports theories and skills, in order to promote the sustainable development of sports events.


Upon completing the training course on 3rd June, all students were awarded certificates.
