Ieong Kuong Io Titled Mr. Fitness in Macao

The 2018 Macao Open Bodybuilding Championships, which was held by the Macao Bodybuilding and Fitness Association, took place on August 12 at Tap Seac Multi-sport Pavilion. The intense competition for the“overall champion of 2018 Macao Open Bodybuilding Championships Mr. Macao (Macao Residents Category) received lots of attention. Eventually, Ieong Kuong Io defeated Lam Keng Hou, who held three champion titles this year, and won honour for the first time. The overall champion of Macao Open Category was won by a foreign contestant Fraga da Silva Leandro. Cheang Ming Yang was awarded the popularity award.

There were a total of 67 athletes of both genders participating in the Macao Open Bodybuilding Championships this year. Competitions were held in two categories: Macao Residents Category and Macao Open Category. There were two events for each category: men's bodybuilding and men's fitness. A total of 19 champions for different weight classes and height classes were decided. The contestants of the bodybuilding event at each level are qualified to compete for the title of overall champion.

Under the circumstance that Iao Chong Wa, who has been the local overall champion for seven years, and Lei Io Wai, who was “Mr. Macao” last year, were absent for the competitions, there had been uncertainty concerning the overall grand final for Macao Residents Category. Ieong Kuong Io, who was the champion in the 80kg class in both Macao Residents Category and Macao Open Category, finally defeated Lam Keng Hou, who had earned three champion titles, and won the title of “Mr. Macao”.

The women's fitness event could not be held this year because it was short of participants. All female candidates still tried their best to perform well. Finally, Liu Hui Min won the champions in the women's fitness 1.55-meter height class in the Macao Residents Category, Open Category and women's sports physique open category, earning three champion titles.
