Macao Wins Two Bronzes in Asian Cup Cadets and Junior

“Asian Cup Cadets and Junior Macau 2018 -World ranking and Youth Olympic Qualification Event”, organized by the Macau Judo Association and sponsored by the Sports Bureau, took place at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion from July 21 to 22. Macao representatives Lei Chi In and Ho Weng I won in the matches for the third place in the men's junior group 55 kg class and women's 52 kg class respectively. They won two bronzes for the Macao team in the event this year. 

The Asian Cup Cadets & Junior was recognized internationally as a Class A event, attracting athletes from 32 countries and regions to compete. Among them, Lei Chi In in the men's junior group 55 kg class broke Macao's “curse of no medal”. In the match for the third place, in only 10 seconds, he defeated Walker from Australia with“ippon”, winning the first bronze medal for Macao in the event. In the women's 52 kg event, Macao athlete Ho Weng I was against Angeline from Malaysia in the match for the third place. With her active performance, Ho Weng I defeated her opponent with two“waza-ari”results, winning another bronze for Macao team.       

In the youth group event, the Macao team dispatched male contestants including Chan Man Kit, Chen Hao Zheng, and Chan Iek Lok, and female contestants Hoi Ka I, Chan Weng Chi, Choi Ka Ian and Kuok Lai Iong. Among them, 4 female athletes proceeded to the match for third place. Regrettably, they could not win any medal despite the high probability. Summarizing the results of the two-day event, the Mongolia team achieved the top result of 6 golds, 2 silvers, and 6 bronzes, becoming the grand winner of the event this year.
