Let’s Learn about Doping Control

What is Doping Control ?

Athletes may be selected for a doping control test in or out of competition, by providing a urine or blood sample for the screening of illicit drugs.

Doping control procedures include :

1.Notification

A.  For in-competition testing, doping control inspector will personally inform selected athlete regarding arrangement.    

B.  After confirmation of identity, inspector will always accompany and monitor athlete.  

2.Reporting   

Athlete has to follow inspector to report to inspection station within specified time upon notification.

3.Collecting  

A.  Sample collection  

1.  When athlete is informed s/he can discharge at least 90mg of urine, s/he will choose a lid urine cup for that purpose.   

2.  Inspector of same gender will accompany athlete and monitor sample provision.  

B.  Dividing sample

1.  Athlete will choose 1 of at least 3 sets of doping control bottles    .

2.  Athlete will pour moderate amount of urine into corresponding bottle per instruction of inspector.   

4.Recording

A.  Completing Doping Control Form   

1.   Inspector will complete Doping Control Form with information and ID number of athlete, doping control bottle number, time of urine collection, urine volume, medication or nutritional supplement recently taken, and comments of athlete.  

2.   Athlete should indicate in Doping Control Form if s/he has applied for and been granted Therapeutic Use Exemption 

B.   Confirmation and Signature  

1.   After checking all information in Doping Control Form is correct and confirming doping control bottles are sealed, athlete signs form for confirmation.    

2.   Athlete will be given a copy of Doping Control Form upon completion.
