2015 / NO.1
Editor’s Note

Everything is rejuvenated upon the commencement of the year. A new scene in theMacaosports community appeared once 2015 began. In this year, we shall continue to promote the idea of healthy sports and incubate residents’ interest in physical activities, strengthen the support, incentive and training for athletes and coaches, and enhance the development of competitive sports. Meanwhile, we shall implement the green construction of sports stadiums and forge outstanding sports venues.

The highlights of ‘Sports News’ in the first quarter of this year resides in the Awards Ceremony of Bonuses and Certificates of Merit in Sports to Outstanding Athletes and Coaches for 2014, the Awards Ceremony for the 2014 Sports Photography Competition and the First Meeting of the Macao Sports Committee in 2015. We reminisce about and recognise the results of the Macao sports community in the last year, while demonstrating our anticipation of the coming year.

Sport for All is also worthy of attention. To allow more residents to access sports, the Macao Sport Development Board has signed a co-operation agreement with three civil associations in order to enhance efficiency in the promotion of Sports for All by utilising the physical facilities and networks of these associations. In addition, residents can experience the advantages of exercising and enjoy the interest in it by participating in Sports Activity in Celebration of the Chinese New Year, Macao Women’s Sports Festival, Sport for All Day as well as Sport for All Fitness and Recreational Classes. Readers will also be inspired by this notion.

This issue’s Public Sports Facilities Network introduces the smartphone app that the Board launched recently to allow convenient access to updated sports information. Through this app, residents can search for information about Sport Easy membership programmes plus registration status of the Sport for All Fitness and Recreational Classes in order to register for the ballot and check the results. All residents are encouraged to try this swift, handy software.
