Editor’s Note

Macao’s sports circle was eventful in the last quarter of 2014. Apart from established Macao sports brands Macau International Marathon and Macau Golf Open, Macao athletes participated in Asian Beach Games, the International Children’s Games and Asian Para Games, etc. The Sport Report of this issue will introduce these individually so that readers may experience the enthusiasm of these events.

Sports for All in the fourth quarter was equally impressive. Apart from the Celebration of China’s National Day Series and anniversary celebration series for the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, a highlight of this issue is the 1st Macao Citizens Sports Day – a new platform and new attempt to encourage the public to participate in physical exercises and have fun from personal experiences in competitive sports.

The second highlight lies in youth incubation. Macao sports talent can be trained through the Recruitment and Selection Day for Macau Youth Sports Academies. With the visit of Olympic gold medallists to Macao and Sports and Life – Dialogue with Youth, successful athletes shared their stories of struggles with youth, helping them build a positive and active outlook on life to understand the true meaning of sports. Readers can get a flavour of the general idea by reading the relevant special topics.

The current issue of ‘Insight on Sports Science’ discusses the weight management of athletes, provides reminders for weight loss and introduces reasonable weight loss strategies. Hopefully, that we can be inspired by reading this article!

Last but not least, we wish you all good health as Macao’s sports circle strives for further improvement!
