2014 Macao Women’s Sports Carnival

The “2014 Macao Women’s Sports Carnival” jointly organised by the Macao Sport Development Board and the Women’s General Association of Macao took place on March 22 and 23 at the Macao Fisherman’s Wharf and the Macao Forum respectively.

The first day featured the “Sports and Anti-Aging” Seminar attracting around 400 scholars and representatives of women’s associations from Mainland China, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong. They shared ideas on sports and health, and elaborated on the importance of sports and exercising to women with local participants. The activity promoted sports for all, engaged all citizens in exercising, and encouraged participants to live a healthier, younger and more vigorous life.

A series of sports and recreational contests took place on the second day. Contestants were divided into two groups according to their ages, namely Group A (contestants aged between 18 and 40) and Group B (contestants aged between 41 and 61) to compete in two rounds of sports and recreational contests respectively. This year, the event attracted around 6,000 participants in 70 teams of 50 organizations from Mainland China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Macao and other countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region. It witnessed a recorded high number of participants.

The results of the contests were as follows:

1. Sports and Recreational Contests:

Group A:

Champion: Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR

1st Runner-up: Team A of the Club of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR

2nd Runner-up: Judiciary Police;

 

Group B:

Champion: Yiu Wa Sports Association

1st Runner-up: Macao Noi Ka Kun Gymnastics Association

2nd Runner-up: the Marine and Water Bureau.

 

2.The Asian Women’s Group Invitational Event:

Champion: Thailand

1st Runner-up: Hong Kong

2nd Runner-up: Macao

 

3.The Most Active Participation Award:

Recreational and Leisure Club of the Health Bureau
