2014-2016 Macao Sports Committee Member Election

The Macao Sports Committee held the election of its members for the years 2014-2016 on January 12 at the multi-function room on the 3rd floor of the Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. A total number of 10 candidates nominated by sports general associations or sports clubs with the special right of sports general associations ran for the election.

After a round of voting conducted under the supervision of Mr. José Tavares and Mr. Pun Weng Kun, the Acting President and the Vice President of the Macao Sport Development Board respectively, ten new Sports Committee members were elected. They are Chan Weng Kit de Noronha, Chang Chin Nam, Cheang Kuok Hang, Chung Hon Kun, Ho King Lun, Kwok Po Chuen, Lai Pak Leng, Lei Man Iam, Lou Kit Long and Wu Chong Fai.

 Besides, ten Sports Committee members were appointed by the Chief Executive, namely: Chui Tat Ming, Chong Coc Veng, Duarte Tavares Alves, Kuan Vai Lam, Lam Un Mui, Leong Sio Pui, Liang Baijin, Ma Iao Hang, Ng Lun Mang and Un Oi Mou. In addition, Antonio Fernandes was the appointed member of the Committee as the representative of sports general associations for the physically disabled. 

There are also nine ex-officio Sports Committee members of which seven come from government departments including the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and the Chairman of the Macao Sports Committee, Mr. Cheong U, the Acting President of the Macao Sport Development Board and the Vice Chairman of the Macao Sports Committee, Mr. José Tavares, the President of the Supervisory Committee of IACM or the representative thereof, the Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau or the representative thereof, the Director of the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau or the representative thereof and the Vice Presidents of the Macao Sport Development Board. The remaining two seats are taken on by the President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China, Mr. Lo King Chiu and the Secretary-General of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macao, China, Mr. Chan Chak Mo.
