VENETIAN MACAO OPEN TO REACH MILLIONS OF HOMES ACROSS ASIA BROADCAST CHANNELS TO SHOWCASE THE BEST MACAO HAS TO OFFER

Millions of people across Asia will be able to tune in to the 2014 Venetian Macao Open, scheduled for 23-26 October at the picturesque Macao Golf and Country Club. One of the most iconic annual sports events in the city, the 2014 entry list include Spaniard Miguel Angel Jiménez and defending champion Australia’s Scott Hend. Fans across the region can follow their personal favourites this year live on a variety of broadcast partners.

With a total prize purse of US$900,000, an increase of 12.5% compared to last year, fans from around the world will be able to catch all the action of the 2014 Venetian Macao Open on the Asian Tour’s global media platforms, which reaches approximately 600 million homes. The main national golf TV channels across Asia will continue to broadcast the four days of the tournament to ensure not a single beat of the event will be missed.

For those in China, there is the option of enjoying the Venetian Macao Open experience on TV through live or delayed coverage on China Golf Channel or online via LETV, a portal that boasts of 25 million visitors daily and streams over 120 millions videos per day. Furthermore, tournament highlights will also be broadcast on The Travel Channel, which is available in over 150 million homes covering most of the major cities in the country.

The Venetian Macao Open is jointly organised by Macao Sport Development Board (MSDB) of Macao SAR Government and Golf Association of Macao.  It is sanctioned by both the Asian Tour and the Golf Association of Macao, and promoted by IMG.  The VenetianMacao is the title sponsor of the event for a third consecutive year.

Since its inauguration in 1998, the tournament has been graced many of the best golfers around the world, including Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie, Nick Faldo, Padraig Harrington, Fred Couples, Mark O’Meara and Ian Woosnam.
