Asia League Fest prepares to rock Macao
2018-08-26

Co-organized by Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and Asia League, The Terrific 12 basketball tournament will be held from September 18 to 23 at Studio City Event Center in Macao. 12 teams representing some of the best clubs from China, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and Chinese Taipei will compete. Fans can travel to Macao to witness elite Asian basketball in person, or follow the games from home on Asia League’s digital and TV broadcasting partners.

Sports Bureau and Asia League are innovators in the field of Asian club basketball. By combining large-scale concerts and elite basketball, they will augment Macao’s sporting and entertainment offerings. Asia League Fest, to take place on September 21 at Studio City Event Center, will bring together the distinctive musical styles of China, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and Chinese Taipei.

Performing artists include:

  • US-Hong Kong rapper MC Jin, who built his fame rap battling on the streets of New York before taking Hong Kong and China by storm with his deft rhymes.
  • Filipino-Australian singer and song writer James Reid, who mixes smooth melodies, EDM, and a splash of hip-hop into a distinctly Philippine style.
  • Manila R&B star Jess Connelly, known for the dulcet tones of her hits “Turn Me Down” and “Deep + Involved.”
  • South Korean sensation Minzy, or Gong Min-ji, a K-Pop idol, song writer, and former member of group 2NE1. Fans love her for songs including "Ninano" and "Please Don't Go".
  • Australian and Chinese singer Julia Wu, or Wu Zhuoyuan, known for the hit songs “H.E.N.R.Y” and “GO!”, featured in the movie Tiny Times.
  • Blacklist Music and DJ Patrick, who will bring their authentic style of Macau hip-hop.
  • Philippine DJ Nix Damn P!, who skirts the lines between mainstream and underground music and carries away listeners with a mix of high energy performance and moving basslines.

The Terrific 12 is the first Asia League event to feature a standalone musical performance. The star-studded musical lineup is consistent with the scale of the tournament and the star power of its athletes, which will include foreign import players from the NBA. This distinguishes The Terrific 12 from Summer Super 8, which focused on supporting the long-term growth of Asian basketball by giving opportunities for coaches and referees to develop professionally through specialized clinics, in addition to giving younger players a chance to hone their skills in a premium competition environment.
